January 20, 2006 @ Roanoke Valley (4-3 W) The RiverDogs battled Roanoke Valley for the third straight game and the results were the same as the previous two games, a RiverDog Victory, this time 4-3 in regulation. Mike Oliveira netted a pair of goals for the Dogs, including the game winner at 12:52 of the third frame. The Dogs fell behind 1-0 on a goal from Mike Wiggin's, his first of two on the night. The RiverDogs rolled off three straight markers, Oliveira, Joey Bastien and Bobby Kukulka, for a 3-1 lead. The Vipers came back with a pair to tie before Oliveira's second goal of the night to put Richmond ahead for good. Mike D'Alessandro was between the pipes for the Dogs as he turned away 36 of 39 shots. The win gave the RiverDogs their fourth straight victory, the longest of the season. Attendance: 2,176.

January 21, 2006 @ Roanoke Valley (5-3 W) The RiverDogs continue their hot win streaks as the team defeats the Vipers for the fourth straight time and five in a row overall in a 5-3 win at the Roanoke Civic Center. Mike Oliveira continued to have the hot hand as he registered a goal and assist in the game. Evgeny Lazarev enjoyed his best game with the RiverDogs as he assisted twice. John DiPace and Warren Cooper, both tallied multi-point games. Matt Goody got his first goal as a RiverDog. Mike D'Alessandro got the victory for the RiverDogs, his fifth straight win. Attendance: 3,286.

January 22, 2006 vs. Missouri (4-1 W) A three-goal outburst in the 3rd period led the RiverDogs to a 4-1 win over the Missouri River Otters in what began as a tight-checking affair. The RiverDogs got goals from Evgeny Lazarev, Joey Bastien, Mike Oliveira and a 200 foot empty netter from Brian Goudie. The win extended the RiverDogs season high six game winning streak and an overall record of 18-20-3, 39 points and sole pocession of 3rd place in the Eastern Division. Attendance: 2,929.

THE WEEK AHEAD:

The RiverDogs will take several days off due to the UHL All-Star break before the team resumes action on Friday and Saturday, January 27th and 28th, with 7:35pm starts against the Motor City Mechanics. The Mechanics are lead by Greg Bullock, Adam Edinger, goaltender Rod Branch and former RiverDogs player Ryan Van Buskirk. PACK THE POUND NIGHT: When the RiverDogs play host to the Motor City Mechanics on Saturday, January 28th at 7:35 pm, it will be PACK THE POUND NIGHT. ALL-STAR HAPPENINGS: Mike Oliveira and Dan Vandermeer will represent the Richmond RiverDogs in the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic to be held at the Family Arena in St. Charles, MO on Wednesday, January 26, 2006 at 7:35 pm cst. The game will be webcasted live on the B-2 Network and televised on a tape delay on Fox Sports Midwest. Prior to the All-Star game is a benefit game pitting the St. Louis Blues Alumni against the UHL Comissioner's Team. RiverDogs General Manager/Head Coach Robbie S. Nichols will suit up and play for the UHL Commissioner's Team. Others that will participate in the benefit game include Missouri Head Coach Kevin Kaminski, Adirondack Frostbite Co-owner Steve Levy, former Chicago Blackhawks goaltender and ESPN commentator Darren Pang.
