Rookie Brocklehurst joins Blades

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president & general manager Craig Brush, along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced today that defenseman Aaron Brocklehurst has agreed to terms with the club for the 2008-09 season.

Brocklehurst is coming off a four-year collegiate career at St. Cloud State University where the 23-year-old posted 63 points (17g, 46a) in 148 career games. As a senior in 2007-08 the Nanaimo, British Columbia native tallied 22 points (4g, 18a) in 40 games while helping the Huskies to the NCAA Tournament. Brocklehurst led all St. Cloud State defenseman in goals, assist and points, while ranking fourth overall on the Huskies in scoring.

"Aaron will be a tremendous addition to our hockey club this season." Cameron said. "He's an outstanding offensive defenseman who skates well and has a bomb of a shot! Aaron was heavily recruited by a lot of ECHL teams and we're excited he chose Florida."

Brocklehurst's best season came in his sophomore year when the 5-foot-10, 194 pound blue-liner posted college career highs in goals (5), assists (18) and points (23) in 41 games. His point total ranked second among Huskies defenseman and he earned All-WCHA Academic honors.

"I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to play for an organization as rich as the Everblades." Brocklehurst added. "I've heard nothing but good things about Coach Cameron and the Everblades organization. They both want to win and be competitive and it will be great to play for an organization with that attitude."
