Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

LAS VEGAS, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers® announced today that defensemen Mike Madill and Bret Tyler have agreed to terms for the 2008-09 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Madill will play his second season with the Wranglers and third professional season overall. Last season, Madill tied for the team lead with 68 games played. Over that span, Madill scored four goals and dished out ten assists for 14 points. The defenseman also suited up in 21 Kelly Cup playoff contests, helping the Wranglers win a National Conference Championship and earn a trip the Kelly Cup Finals. The Kirkland, PQ native also played in the American Hockey League last season. Madill saw action in two games with the Quad City Flames and one game with the Milwaukee Admirals. In three AHL games, Madill registered one assist.

"Playing in Las Vegas is a great experience for anyone," said Madill. "The Wranglers great fans are the best in the ECHL and the organization is among the best I have seen. We had a great run last year in the playoffs and just fell short of winning the Kelly Cup. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say we have unfinished business to take care of this coming season. The city, the fans and the organization are all very deserving of a championship."

In 2006-07, Madill played seven games with the AHL's Houston Aeros. He recorded one point (an assist) during his inaugural stint in the AHL. The 26-year old spent the majority of the 2006-07 season with the ECHL's Texas Wildcatters. He ranked ninth in scoring among ECHL defensemen with 43 points (four goals and 39 assists). The 26-year old was named to the 2007 American Conference All-Star Team as a member of the Wildcatters. Prior to turning pro, Madill played four seasons at St. Lawrence University. In 154 collegiate games, Madill scored 14 goals and added 49 assists for 63 points.

Bret Tyler will start his professional career with Las Vegas after completing a four-year career at the University of Maine. The defenseman was second on the Black Bears in scoring with 12 assists and 20 points in 34 games played. The five-foot-nine, 200-pounder averaged over 20 points a season throughout his NCAA career. In 142 collegiate games, the 23-year old scored 27 goals and dished out 62 assists for 89 points. The Maynard, MA native was selected for the 2007 NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team and named to the 2005 Hockey East All-Rookie Team.

2008-09 season ticket packages are selling now at (702) 471-PUCK. The Wranglers play all 36 regular season home games at the Orleans Arena, located at the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue. Opening night is scheduled for Thursday, October 23rd at the Orleans Arena.
