Rome Wins Third Straight Over Savannah

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Savannah Sand Gnats for the third straight time by a score of 8-3 before a crowd of 3,158 fans at State Mutual Stadium.

The Braves scored the first run of the game in the second inning when Jamie Romak walked, moved to third on a Derrick Arnold single, and scored on a Jordan Schafer ground out. In the third, Isaiah Ka'aihue got things started again with a single, which Eric Campbell immediately followed with a single of his own moving Ka'aihue to second. Quentin Davis then stepped up to the plate to swat a triple scoring Ka'aihue and Campbell. Davis then scored on a double off the bat of Jamie Romak, making the score 4-0. The Sand Gnats came out swinging in the fourth tallying four consecutive singles, resulting in two runs, but they failed to even the score. The Braves added another run in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 5-2 game. Quentin Davis took one in the ribs to lead of the bottom of the fifth and later scored on a homerun blast from Jamie Romak giving the Braves a 7-2 lead. The Sand Gnats added a run in the top of the eighth and the Braves added one more in the bottom of the inning to seal the win 8-3.

Rome starter Chris Vines recorded the win for the Braves (5-1), going six innings, allowing six hits and two earned runs while Devin Anderson finished the game, throwing three innings and recording his first save of the season. John Lannan was the loser (1-2), giving up seven earned runs in five innings pitched.
