Cole Hamels has broken through to play with the Phillies. Hamels, who has had some injury problems over the last couple of years, excelled through two levels of minor league ball this year and has already made two starts with the parent club in Philadelphia. Through two starts, Hamels has no decisions in the win-loss column but has allowed only six hits and has struck out 12 batters.

Carlos Ruiz was called up from AAA-Scranton three weeks ago and has started over half of the Phillies games at the catcher position since going to Philadelphia. Ruiz has four hits in 11 games and one run batted in.

Chris Roberson got his call to join the Phillies after Aaron Rowand slammed face-first into the outfield wall landing him on the disabled list. Roberson, one of the fastest players to ever play in Lakewood, has been a spot starter in right field for the Phillies. Overall, Roberson has started two games but has played in seven for the Fightin' Phils.
