Columbus Catfish News Release
Columbus, GA - Two home runs by RF Sergio Pedroza led the way as Columbus (24-23) topped the Charleston RiverDogs (26-21) 9-2 Thursday at Golden Park. Pedroza was 2-for-4 on the night with three RBI and three runs. LHP Brent Leach (4-2) limited the RiverDogs to two runs to pick up the win.
The Catfish used four singles and two walks in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead. The inning included one-run singles by 1B Jason Mooneyham and C Juan Apodaca and a two-run hit by CF Lucas May. They added a run in the second inning on a solo home run by Pedroza, his ninth of the season. In the fifth inning May singled to score one run for a 6-2 lead. 1B David Sutherland joined the hit parade with an RBI single of his own in the seventh inning. In the eighth inning Pedroza capped off the night with a soaring two-run blast, his second of the night and team-leading 10th of the season.
