Rome Drops Fifth One-Run Contest of Season to Brooklyn
May 11, 2024 - South Atlantic League (SAL)
Rome Emperors News Release
ROME, GA - The Emperors went 1-for-15 with runners in scoring position and left 12 on-base in Saturday afternoon's 2-1 loss to the Cyclones.
Brooklyn pushed one across early on Jhancarlos Lara who limped through the first inning with two walks and a hit batsman. Lara rebounded with four strikeouts and worked into the fourth before being relieved by Landon Harper who was tremendous in his season high 4.1 innings. Harper allowed just two hits and an earned run and left the ninth for Shay Schanaman who went three up, three down.
Stephen Paolini stepped up in a big way again Saturday night, sending a one-out RBI double over the head of Morabito in left field to tie the game at one in the sixth. That would be Rome's only base hit of the night with runners in scoring position. E.J. Exposito extended his hit streak to nine games on single to center field in the seventh.
Rome aims to salvage a series split with the Brooklyn Cyclones Sunday at 1:00pm EDT.
