Rogues' Win Streak Reaches Six

MEDFORD, OR - The Medford Rogues held on to their game-and-a-half lead in the WCL South while earning the league's best record at 6-2 with an 8-4 win over the Wenatchee AppleSox on Saturday night. The win extended Medford's winning streak to six games.

A persistent attack gave the Rogues an early lead with single runs in the second, third and fourth innings. In the fifth Medford exploded for four runs as 3B Yuto Kata and C Tanner Lubach were hit by pitches to start the inning. Singles by OF Christian Cox and DH Nathan Etheridge knocked in the first two runs of the inning. A fielder's choice by OF Clayton Meyer scored the third run of the inning and a single by SS Tucker Campbell closed out the inning's scoring.

Medford tacked on a run in the sixth and allowed four runs to Wenatchee over the last three innings to bring the final score to 8-4 in front of 1,324 fans at Harry & David Field.

Medford starter Jackson Bertsch (2-0) went six shutout innings, giving up only three hits and striking out three. Three relievers finished off the game for the Rogues. Tom Zarosinski (0-1) took the loss for the AppleSox.

The Rogues' 14-hit attack was led by Cox (4-5), Etheridge (3-5), helped by Campbell and Victor Garcia, who had two hits each.

The same two teams meet Sunday at 6:35 p.m. at Harry & David Field. RHP Brandon Erickson (1-0) is scheduled to start for Medford while Wenatchee has not announced a starting pitcher.
