
Rogues Fall to Gems

MEDFORD, OR - In what was a close contest from start to finish, the Medford Rogues were unable to overcome the visiting Klamath Falls Gems as they lost 5-4 tonight at Harry and David Field. The Rogues hold a 24-26 record in league play and sit four games behind second place Bend. The Gems now stand for the season at 13-37.
Freshman Ivan Dilda (1-2) of Pepperdine started on the mound for the Rogues tonight and took the loss. In seven innings Dilda allowed eight hits for five runs with an ERA of 1.75.Both Nathan Kuchta and Shane Quarterly came in on relief for the final two innings. Kuchta allowed two hits for zero runs and had an ERA of 3.68 while Quarterly allowed one hit and zero runs for an ERA of 2.76.
Michael Brinska (1-3) earned the win for the Klamath Falls Gems tonight while allowing four runs off of seven hits with an ERA of 7.05. Austin McGeorge came in on relief and pitched two innings while allowing zero hits and zero runs with an ERA of 2.76.
The Rogues were led offensively by center fielder Spencer Smith with help from second baseman Yuto Kata and designated hitter Nathan Etheridge. Smith recorded five at bats for three runs, two hits and no RBI's while holding a season batting average of .297.
Kata had three at bats for one hit and one RBI while holding a season average of .244. Etheridge was up to bat 4 times and recorded zero runs, one hit and one RBI while holding a season batting average of .331.
The Rogues will be on the road tomorrow at Kiger stadium to face the Klamath Falls Gems once again at 6:35pm. The Rogues will be back at home Friday, August 8th and will face the Corvallis Knights for a West Coast League matchup at 6:35pm.
