Medford Rogues News Release
VICTORIA, B.C. - The Medford Rogues three-game win streak ended tonight as the Victoria HarbourCats scored early and often en route to an 11-4 win to even the two teams' series at one game each.
Rogues starter Mac Acker (Washington) gave up three runs on two hits and an error in the bottom of the second as the HarbourCats jumped to an early lead.
The Rogues answered in the third with a double by LF A.J. Balta, who then moved to third on a groundout and scored on a single by DH Caleb Palensky. A walk to 1B Matt Page and single by SS Brody Weiss brought in the second Rogues run to cut the lead to 3-2.
A single Victoria run in the third and three in the fourth ran Acker out of the game after 3 1/3 innings and two on. Conner Harris relieved Acker and allowed one more in the fourth to make it 8-2 Victoria after four. A single run in the seventh gave the HarbourCats a seven-run lead.
Medford came back with two in the eighth as a double by Palensky followed a single by Page. A Victoria error allowed the two Medford runs to bring the score to 9-4. Two more Victoria runs in the eighth off Rogues reliever RHP Jeff Hardy completed the scoring.
The Rogues had eight hits, led by Palensky with two, and six other Medford batters had one hit each. For Victoria, 1B Alex Real led the hit parade with three. LF Chris Lewis and CF Brandon Smith had three RBI each.
The two teams finish the series Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. from Victoria. The Rogues have a travel day on Friday and return to Harry & David Field for a six-game home stand beginning Saturday.
