Gems Offense Explodes in Series Opener, Defeat Walla Walla 13-7

Klamath Falls OR, June 12, 2013: The Gems offense scored runs in the 4th, 5th and 6th innings to back starter Skye Adams, as he allowed only two runs in five innings helping the Gems defeat Walla Walla 13-7 Wednesday Night, at Kiger Stadium.

Sweets starter Jonathan Harris (Missouri State University) set down the first nine Gems batters but the Gems offense came alive, scoring runs in four of the next five innings. Dempsey Grover (UC Santa Barbara) drove in five runs for the Gems, who had fifteen hits. Skye Adams earned the win for Klamath Falls, his first of the year, and Harris took the loss for Walla Walla, falling to 0-2. Gems improve to 3-1, winning three straight. Walla Walla falls to 3-2.

Thursday June 13th, the Gems host the Walla Walla Sweets at Kiger Stadium, with first pitch at 6:35 pm. The Gems Thursday promotion: Thirsty Thursdays! Sponsored by Grocery Outlet; $2 domestic beers.
