Rockstars out of tune
December 16, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Quad City Riverhawks News Release
Davenport - The Quad City Riverhawks (9-3) ABA Professional basketball team defeated the Chicago Rockstars (6-6) 97-85. This is the third time the Riverhawks have defeated the Rockstars this season. The Rockstars were speechless after the first half start by the Riverhawks. The Riverhawks were on fire and hitting from everywhere on the court. Anthony Davis led the Riverhawks in the first half with 11 points and Glen Worley chipped in 8.
The Rockstars came out with a different tune in the second half. Even though the Rockstars outscored the Riverhawks in the second half 54-45, they could not catch up enough to pull out the victory. The Riverhawks held on for the 97-85 victory. The Rockstars shot an ugly 3-17 from behind the arc. The leading scorers for the Riverhawks were Corey Minnifield with 20 points, Ryan Edwards with 17 points, and Tony Weeden chipping in 15 points. Sherrick Simpson led the Rockstars with 27 points, Phil Taylor added 18 points, and Corey Gupton scored 11 points.
The Riverhawks will host the Peoria Kings Sunday, December 17 with a special 4:05 start. Bring in your church bulletin to receive a free ticket with the purchase of a ticket.
