New York Boulders News Release

(Ramapo, NY) Bobby Blevins pitched seven strong innings to propel Rockland past Worcester 4-2 in the first of a four game set at Provident Bank Park.

The Tornadoes jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first as Brandon Pinckney blasted a two-run shot over the left field wall. It would not take long for the Boulders to respond as Chris Valencia began the bottom of the inning with a single, followed by Qualon Millender advancing to first after being hit by a Michael Gedman pitch. Both runners would wind up scoring as Valencia scored on a fielder's choice and Millender came home on a Ryan Scoma single to even the game at two.

Rockland would break the tie in the bottom of the fourth on a Valencia sacrifice fly that drove in Ryan Mollica. The Boulders would add an insurance run in the inning as shortstop Jose Reyes scored on a past ball.

The rest of the game belonged to Rockland starter Bobby Blevins who finished seven innings, surrendering just two runs on four hits while striking out four. After newly acquired pitcher Julio Santana pitched a scoreless eighth, Adrian Martin entered to record his 10th save of the season.

The Boulders and Tornadoes face off again tomorrow night at Provident Bank Park starting at 7 p.m. Tomorrow night features $1 beers at select locations until the end of the seventh inning.
