Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- After returning home from a five-game road trip, the Rockford IceHogs trounced the Port Huron Beacons at the Rockford MetroCentre Saturday night 5-2, in front of 4,353. The line of Olivier Proulx (1g-3a), Terry Harrison (3a) and Chris Gobert (2g-1a) accumulated 3g-7a-10pts to lead the IceHogs to the win.
The Hogs spread out the scoring against Port Huron and began the lamp lighting at 3:26 of the first period when defenseman Vince Malts cranked home his fourth goal of the season. Before the end of the period, Proulx made the score 2-0 at 12:06, set up perfectly by Harrison.
The IceHogs would tack on two more in the second period to push the lead to 4-0, both tallies coming from Gobert. His first came on the power play after a feed from Harrison found the second year winger in the high slot at 9:34 in which he fired home to make it 3-0. Gobert was then on the receiving end of another perfect pass from his college line-mate with just 6.4 seconds left in the period.
The Beacons would make things interesting in the third period however. Forward Josh Tataryn notched the first Port Huron goal at 2:16 of the period on a Beacons power play. Winger David Beauregard closed the gap to 4-2 with another goal at 5:38. The Hogs and Ryan Bonni stopped the bleeding at 9:28 of the frame, when the d-man blasted home the IceHogs fifth goal of the game.
Goalie Jeff Harvey turned away 22 Beacons shots to pick up his third win of the season. Daniel Berthiaume played 40 minutes for Port Huron and was saddled with the loss. Rockford ended the contest 1-3 on the power play.
Next Home Game: Sunday, November 14 vs. Missouri River Otters.
