Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill.-The Rockford IceHogs, proud members of the United Hockey League, unveiled their theme for the 2002-03 season on Tuesday. The IceHogs theme for the fast approaching season will be "Blockbuster Hockey." IceHogs general manager Ryan Washatka made the announcement at Medicineman, a graphic design company located in the Rockford River District. Medicineman's Mike Bunjan, and 23 WIFR creative services director Chris Toltzman were also present for the announcement.

"Blockbuster Hockey is big, brash and aggressive," said Washatka. "We want to take our organization to the next level and make IceHogs hockey a premiere event at the Rockford MetroCentre. We're excited about the Blockbuster Hockey theme because it fits perfectly within our plans for the 2002-03 season."

Much like a highly anticipated summer blockbuster movie, Washatka said the Blockbuster Hockey theme describes the emotions felt by IceHogs fans as they count down the days in anticipation of another season.

The IceHogs also revealed their 2002-03 ticket brochure on Tuesday. The brochure, designed by Medicineman and made to look like the movie posters on display at a typical movie theater, features the Blockbuster Hockey logo and a close up shot of a very intense IceHogs goaltender. It also includes a shot of an IceHogs player involved in a fight, and the caption "It's Not Over, Til It's Bloody Over." A four-star rating and a listing of credits are also located on the poster, which states IceHogs hockey is rated PiG (Pure IceHogs Guaranteed) and some material may not be suitable for opposing fans.

Along with the ticket brochure, the IceHogs also plan to implement the Blockbuster Hockey theme in their 2002-03 marketing campaign. The campaign will include six other movie posters designed by Medicineman, billboards and several television commercials. Both the posters and the commercials will spoof memorable movie scenes while promoting upcoming IceHogs events. Both will also include members of the 2002-03 IceHogs. Toltzman will handle the production of the commercials.

Season ticket packages for the 2002-03 IceHogs are now available, starting at just $98. Contact the IceHogs office at (815) 986-6465 for more details. Season ticket information can also be found at www.icehogs.com. The IceHogs begin the 2002-03 season when they host the Fort Wayne Komets at the Rockford MetroCentre on Fri., Oct. 11.
