
Flames Sign Jason Payne

Saint John, NB â The Saint John Flames Hockey Club announced today the signing of 26-year-old left wing Jason Payne to an American Hockey League contract.
Payne split 2001-02 between the Florida Everblades and New Orleans Brass of the East Coast Hockey League and the Verdun Dragons of the Quebec Semi-Pro Hockey League. The 6'1", 190 lb native of Toronto, Ontario recorded 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and 78 penalty minutes in 20 games with Florida, 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and 46 penalty minutes in 13 games with New Orleans and 2 assists and 109 penalty minutes in 19 games with Verdun. His professional career totals include 322 games played, 62 points (26 goals, 36 assists) and 1276 penalty minutes.

The 2002-03 season marks the Saint John Flames' tenth as a member of the AHL and as the primary development organization of the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames.
