
Rockford dispenses the Trashers

Rockford, Ill.- In the only meeting of season, the Rockford IceHogs trounced the Danbury Trashers 4-1 at the Rockford MetroCentre in front of 4,358 Saturday night. The IceHogs received goals from four different goal scorers, all on deflections, and picked off the top team from the UHL's Eastern Division.
Rockford opened the scoring at the 16:34 of the first period. Defenseman Rod Aldoff fired a shot in on Trashers goalies Scott Stirling that was deflected in by winger Eric Labelle. The Hogs tallied again just 1:21 later when J.F. Dufour redirected a blast from defenseman Cory Laylin, giving the IceHogs a 2-0 lead at the intermission.
In the second frame Rockford opened the scoring with a goal after a perfect set up by center J.C. Ruid. Ruid crossed a pass to winger Jason Ralph who tipped home Rockford's third marker of the night at 5:02. Danbury, however, lit the next lamp when forward Blake Bellefeuille fired home a shot from the high slot at 5:33 to cut the lead to 3-1.
The Hogs would ice the game in the third period with another goal that was deflected past Stirling. This time rookie center Miguel Lafleche tipped home an Aldoff shot at 7:28 of the third, making it 4-1. That's all goalie Michel Robinson needed as he turned away 32 Danbury shots to pick up the win.
Next Home Game: Friday, January 28 vs. Flint Generals. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The Generals make their first visit to Rockford this season. The game is also the Hogs 4th Annual NASCAR Night, a the IceHogs welcome the Jeff Gordon Chevrolet to the Rockford MetroCentre.
