TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The 12th of 17 meetings and the fifth of eight in Richmond. Richmond is 5-6 vs. Elmira. ‘Dogs are 2-2 vs. Elmira at home. The ‘Dogs begin a seven game homestand. The fifth meeting between the clubs in 19 days. Jonathan Gagnon has 11 points vs. the Jackals. Jason Sessa has 22 points vs. the ‘Dogs. Richmond is fourth in the East, two points back of third place Elmira. The Jackals trail Adirondack by eight points. The Jackals have 17 power play goals in their six wins vs. the ‘Dogs.

LAST ACTION: Richmond lost 6-3 at Adirondack last night. The ‘Dogs led 3-2 in the second period but Adirondack erupted for four third period goals. Mike Dombkiewicz had a goal and two assists. The Jackals lost 5-0 at home to Muskegon last night. Muskegon scored three second period goals. Brent Belecki made 24 saves to earn the shutout win.

'DOG BITES: The 'Dogs activated RW Derek Schutz prior to today's game. Richmond also added goaltender Nathan Grobins and C Brett Cross from Winston-Salem of the SPHL (please see player bios for more information). The ‘Dogs have lost five straight, the longest loosing streak in team history. Richmond has allowed 25 goals in their last four games. The ‘Dogs are three for their last six on the power play. After playing 12 of 16 on the road, Richmond plays their next seven at home. The ‘Dogs are playing their third game in three nights for the fifth time in seven weeks and their fourth in five for the third time in four weeks. J.F. Picard returned from IR Friday. J.J. Wrobel and Trevor Senn remain on IR. The ‘Dogs have played seven straight games with a short bench. David Hymovitz is tied for 14th in the league in scoring. Senn remains second in PIM. Mark Turner is tied for second in shorthanded goals. Kyle Sheen leads UHL rookies in penalty minutes and is second in game winning goals by a rookie.

JACKALS NOTES: The loss last night ended a three game winning streak and four game unbeaten run. The Jackals are playing their third game in three nights. Jason Sessa is second in the UHL in goals and Greg Koehler is third. Koehler is third in points and Sessa is eighth. Goalie Greg Hewitt leads the league in minutes played and saves. The Jackals power play is at 32.2% vs. Richmond (19-59). The Jackals have out-scored Richmond by 13 on special teams.

NEXT UP: Richmond hosts Danbury Wednesday at 7:35. The ‘Dogs are also home next Friday and Saturday vs. Adirondack. Saturday is Pack The Pound night with free t-shirts for all fans.
