Rockford captures first ever division title

For the first time in club history, the Rockford IceHogs have clinched a division title. With Rockford's 4-1 win over the Muskegon Fury on Saturday, the Hogs secured its first ever division championship. They split four road games during Week 24 and now return home to play four of its final five regular season games at the Rockford MetroCentre.

Transactions

-Defenseman Corey Hessler was placed on 7-Day Injured Reserve on Saturday, April 1.

-Winger Bruce Watson was placed on Team Suspension on Saturday, April 1.

-Goaltender Michel Robinson was moved from the 7-Day to 10-Day Injured Reserve on Saturday, April 1.

-Winger Robin Big Snake was activated from League Suspension on Thursday, March 30.

-Goaltender Jake Pruss was added as the emergency backup goalie on Tuesday, March 28.

-Winger Greg Barber was reassigned from the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) on Tuesday, March 28.

-Defenseman Corey Hessler was reassigned from the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) on Tuesday, March 28.

-Winger Robin Big Snake was placed on League Suspension on Tuesday, March 28.

-Winger Jason Notermann was activated from League Suspension on Monday, March 27.

Bacon Bits:

The IceHogs clinched its first ever division title on Saturday night.

Rockford also locked up home-ice advantage for the first round of the Colonial Cup Playoffs for the first time in club history.

The Hogs tied a club record over the weekend with its 46th win of the season. Rockford also won 46 games last season.

Center Olivier Proulx moved into second place on the IceHogs all-time assist list with 89 career helpers in an IceHogs uniform. Jeff DaCosta is first with 100 assists

At the 19:00 mark in the third period Saturday, there were 122 penalty minutes handed out between the IceHogs and Muskegon Fury.

Center Preston Mizzi notched his sixth multi-goal game on Friday at Port Huron, most on the Hogs.

Rockford will play four of its final five regular season games at home.

The month of March wasn't kind to Rockford, as the IceHogs finished with a record of 6-7-1, its first under .500 month during the 2005-06 season.

Winger Rob Voltera played in his 400th career game on Friday in Port Huron.

Rookie winger Robin Big Snake is one penalty minute shy of the club record for most PIM's in a season. Big Snake currently leads the UHL with 389 PIM's. Eric Labelle had 390 last season to set the club record.

Hot Hog Week 24:

Center Olivier Proulx has been a mark of consistency for the IceHogs during his two seasons in an IceHogs uniform. Proulx notched 2g-3a-5pts in the Hogs four games over the the past week and played in his 150th straight game. Proulx also moved into second place on the Hogs all-time assists list with 89 career helpers.

Upcoming Games:

Friday, April 7 vs. Quad City. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. The game is Rockford's 7th Annual Jersey Auction. The first 1,000 fans to the game will receive an IceHogs T-shirt courtesy of Saturn of Rockford, Dental Dimensions, Axberg Heating and 13WREX. The IceHogs will wear special commemorative jerseys that will get auctioned off following the game. All proceeds will be donated to the IceHogs Charitable Foundation that will in return distribute the funds to the MDA, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Boys Scouts and Girl Scouts, Rockford area Boys and Girls Clubs, Jr. IceHogs and other local charities.

Saturday, April 8 at Muskegon Fury. The puck drops at 6:40 p.m. The second of four meetings in the season's final three weeks between two of the UHL's heavyweights.

Sunday, April 9 vs Muskegon Fury. The game begins at 3:05 p.m. The Hogs and Fury wrap up a home-and-home series at the MetroCentre. The first 500 kids 12-and-under will receive an IceHogs puck courtesy of Insurance King.

Rockford IceHogs fans can catch all IceHogs Regular and Post Season games on Rockford's Voice, WNTA-AM 1330. Fans can also watch and listen to the Hogs on the World Wide Web with the B2 Networks! Log on to the IceHogs Web site (icehogs.com) and click on the "click here to watch the game live" icon, and for just $6, you can catch all of the IceHogs action on your computer. New to the network this season is ESPN Radio "The Jock" 1380 AM. The Jock will broadcast 20 Hogs games during the regular season. Check your local listings. Also, fans with Insight Cable television can tune in to Channel 57 for all the IceHogs hockey action this season. The broadcast begins with the Pregame Show 20 minutes before the puck drops. HogTalk Returns Tonight At Shooter's North:

Miller Lite HogTalk returns this week to Shooters North located at 7742 Forest Hills Road in Loves Park from 6:30-7:30 p.m. WXRX's Jim Stone and Double T host the weekly show and this week they will be joined by IceHogs skaters Jason Notermann and Andrew Hotham.
