Rockford IceHogs News Release

Port Huron, Mich.- For the second time in three games, the Rockford IceHogs were shutout despite several scoring opportunities. The Hogs were blanked 3-0 by the Port Huron Beacons on Friday night at the McMorran Place Arena. The IceHogs also gave up two goals in the final minute of the first and second period.

Beacons goalie Kory Copper turned away 40 Rockford shots and winger Aaron Brand netted a pair of goals to lead the charge. Port Huron scored the games first goal on a power play at the 19:11 mark of the first period when Joey Sewell scored. Sewell picked up his own rebound off his initial shot and fired it past Hogs goalie Michel Robinson.

In the second period, Port Huron didn't make it 2-0 until the 14:51 mark. Brand tipped in his first of the evening off a shot from defenseman Gabriel Proulx. Then for the second time in as many periods, the Hogs allowed a goal in the final minute. After Rockford failed to clear the puck on a break out, Brand came up with a loose puck and flipped it over Robinson's shoulder at 19:17 to extend the lead to 3-0.

The IceHogs had opportunities in the third period to get back into the game, out shooting the Beacons 14-6, but failed to capitalize. Robinson had 23 saves in the loss and the IceHogs power play continued to struggle, going 0-for-5.

Hogs AHL Update: The Rockford IceHogs received another American Hockey League call-up on Thursday when defenseman Ryan Bonni was promoted to the Milwaukee Admirals. Former IceHogs defenseman Kevin Klein did record a power play goal for Milwaukee in the win with a plus/minus rating of plus-4.

Both Harrison and Bonni are expected to remain with Milwaukee today when the team travels to Salt Lake City, Utah to face-off against the Utah Grizzlies. Chicago returns home to play the San Antonio Rampage Saturday night at the All State Arena..
