Kansas City Outlaws News Release
TONIGHT'S GAME: The Kansas City Outlaws host the Quad City Mallards tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Kemper Arena. The Mallards look to avenge a 6-4 loss against the Outlaws on December 3 in Kansas City. With a win tonight, the Outlaws can pull within one point of the Mallards in the Western Division. This is the second trip to Kansas City for the Mallards and the eighth of nine straight home games for the Outlaws. The Mallards will come to Kansas City four more times before the season's end and lead the season's series 2-1.
INSIDE THE OUTLAWS: Kansas City continues to improve their position in the Western Division after adding three points in two games this week. The Outlaws were able to force the Motor City Mechanics into shootouts last night after a Steve Yetman goal with less than four minutes remaining in regulation. Yetman currently trails Flint General Mike Kinnie for the lead in Rookie Points by three. Kansas City is 3-3-1 in this December home stand, which finishes up Tuesday night against Missouri.
A GLANCE AT THE MALLARDS: The Quad City Mallards, 11-12-3, visit Kansas City tonight with a 4-10-1 record on the road. The Mallards lost on the road last night against the Missouri River Otters 2-1. Winger Marty Standish is second in the UHL with 27 minutes of minor penalties on the year. Forward Mike Kompon has been making a run at the UHL Rookie of the Year Award and currently ranks fourth in rookie points with 21 and leads all rookies in assists with 16 and shots with 80. The Mallards finish up their road trip Wednesday in Kalamazoo before hosting the Fort Wayne Komets for two consecutive games.
LOCAL OLYMPIANS TO DROP THE PUCK ON TUESDAY: Kansas City's Terin Humphrey and Courtney McCool will reunite at Kemper Arena on Tuesday, December 21 when the Kansas City Outlaws take on the Missouri River Otters. The Silver Medalists, who made the United States proud as part of the 2004 U.S. Gymnastics team in Athens, will receive their own personalized Outlaws jerseys and will drop the first puck of the game at 7 p.m. Both girls will sign autographs and meet with fans on the concourse from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
