Rockets Slip by T-Birds

Kelowna, British Columbia,December 1, 2010 - The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2 Wednesday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, British Columbia.
Brenden Dillon gave the T-Birds a 1-0 lead at 3:07 of the first period. Travis Toomey set up a pinching Dillon with a backhand pass from the right post across the slot. Dillon snapped the puck over Kelowna goalie Adam Brown's glove for this third goal of the year. Dave Sutter had the second assist on the T-Birds first goal.
Zach Franko scored a power-play goal at 7:10 of the first to tie the game 1-1. Damon Severson and Shane McColgan had the assists on the goal.
Both teams had nine shots on goal in the first period.
Kelowna (15-11-0-0) took a 2-1 lead 28 seconds into the second period on a goal from Mitchell Callahan. Zach Franko had the only assist on the goal.
The Rockets led in shots 21-16 after two periods by outshooting the T-Birds 12-7 in the second period.
Spencer Main put the Rockets in front 3-1 at 3:11 of the third period. Brett Bulmer and Cody Chikie assisted on the goal.
Seattle (11-8-3-4) cut the Rockets lead to one goal at 7:45 of the third period with a power-play goal. Burke Gallimore sent the puck from the left circle to Dillon at the high point and he one-timed the pass. Marcel Noebles was in front of Brown and tipped the puck past the Kelowna goalie for his ninth goal of the year.
Kelowna outshot Seattle 9-6 in the third period and 30-22 in the game.
Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard made 27 saves on 30 shots and his record is now 11-8-3-4.
Brown stopped 20 of 22 shots and his record is now 12-10-0-0.
The T-Birds are in Prince George on Friday and Saturday for back-to-back games against the Cougars. Both game start at 7 p.m. and are at the CN Centre. The T-Birds are back home at ShoWare Center on Saturday, December 11, to face the Tri-City Americans at 7:05 p.m.
