Traverse City, Mich. - The Green Bay Rockers fell to the Traverse City Pit Spitters 7-2 Monday night at Turtle Creek Stadium, splitting the opening two game series between the two teams.

The Rockers go to 7-15 on the season while the Pit Spitters improved to 9-13 as Green Bay now turns to finish off their five-game road trip at Lakeshore Tuesday night.

After the Rockers went scoreless in the top of the first, Logan Berrier retired the side in the bottom of the first, striking out the last batter he faced as Traverse City stranded the bases loaded to remain off the board.

The Pit Spitters struck first in the second off a two-run home run to right center field, followed by an RBI single making it 3-0 in favor of the Pit Spitters.

Traverse City capped off their six-run second inning with two RBI singles and an RBI sacrifice fly, leading 6-0 after the first two innings of play.

Following a scoreless third inning on both sides, Brendan Ryan brought home the first run of the game for Green Bay, hitting a two-out RBI single into center, making it a 6-1 game going into the bottom of the fourth.

The Pit Spitters added to their lead of the bottom of the fourth on an RBI double, but a great throw by Tristin Garcia at second retired the runner, keeping the game a six-run deficit heading into the fifth.

Nainoa Cardinez threw out a runner to second in the bottom of the fifth to catch him stealing, keeping it 7-1 going into the sixth inning.

In the bottom of the sixth, despite the Pit Spitters loading up the bases, Calvin Hunt stranded the bases loaded by striking out the side, keeping Traverse City off the board in the sixth.

Following a scoreless frame in the top of the seventh by the Green Bay offense, Hunt struck out the side once more in the bottom half of the frame, as the score remained 7-1 in favor of Traverse City going into the eighth.

Hunt got his second 1-2-3 inning in the eighth, retiring the last eight batters he faced as he kept the score at 7-1 going into the ninth.

The Rockers did score once in the top of the ninth courtesy of an RBI ground-rule double by Owen Jackson, but a strikeout ended the game as the Pit Spitters earned their ninth win of the season, beating the Rockers 7-2.

The Rockers will now conclude their five-game road trip in Mequon, Wis, taking on the Lakeshore Chinooks Tuesday. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. from Kapco Park.
