Rock Make Trades as Deadline Approaches

Toronto Rock News Release

With the National Lacrosse League trade deadline approaching, the Rock have the joined the flurry of activity. There have been two trades in the last two days that will see some changes to the Rock roster. Two weeks ago, Chris McElroy was released from the practice roster to make room for Marc Landriault. Landriault has played two years in the NLL with the Buffalo Bandits and the Ottawa Rebel.

On Monday, the Rock placed Ryan Painted on the injured reserve. Painter will miss the rest of the season due to a mild concussion suffered earlier in the season. With Painter out of the lineup, Eric Pacey was signed to fill in the gap. Pacey has also spent two years in the NLL with the Montreal Express and the Ottawa Rebel. He played in 13 games last season, picking up 8 points on 3 goals and 5 assists. Pacey scooped 45 looseballs and served 13 minutes in penalties.

The most recent Rock trade will see their first round draft pick Josh Bergey heading to San Jose in exchange for Tim O'Brien. O'Brien has 3 years experience with NLL teams including Rochester, New York and Albany. He has been listed on the injured reserve for the better part of this season and will remain listed there.

"We see these trades as moves not only for the present but for the future of the club. The Rock are making another run at the Champions Cup but we also have to look at next season and building the team for future success." Terry Sanderson, Rock Head Coach and General Manager.

The official National Lacrosse League trade deadline passes tonight at 5:00pm eastern time.
