Vancouver Ravens News Release
BATTLE OF WESTERN CANADA THIS SUNDAY AT GENERAL MOTORS PLACE
Your Vancouver Ravens return home for a big showdown against the Calgary Roughnecks. The Battle of Western Canada is set for a 12:30 p.m. Pacific start time at General Motors Place. With the Roughnecks spoiling the Ravens' season home opener January 9th and the two teams splitting two games in Calgary earlier this season, the Sunday tilt promises to be one of the most intense of the 2003-2004 regular season. Tickets are available at TicketMaster at (604) 280-4400 or by visiting www.ticketmaster.ca. For special offers or group sales information, please call (604) 899-5300.
YOUR RAVENS ON TELEVISION AND RADIO
The Score is the place to be this Sunday at 12:30 p.m. if you live outside of the Lower Mainland and cannot make it to General Motors Place to see the Ravens live. The Ravens-Roughnecks match-up and the regular season finale against the Arizona Sting -- Sunday, April 4 at 4:30 p.m. Pacific -- are both being televised on The Score (and The TEAM 1040 radio). Rogers Sportsnet has added our last road game, Saturday, April 3, at Phoenix against Arizona, to its schedule. Rogers Sportsnet's commitment to Ravens Lacrosse totals nine games for 2003-2004. The Score, as part of the NLL national package, will have carried a total of six Ravens games by the end of the regular season.
MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNOR
On behalf of all of us associated with Ravens Lacrosse, I wanted to once again thank our Season Ticket Holders and all of our fans for your ongoing support of the NLL in British Columbia. We also wanted to take the time out to provide an update on our Ravens Insider of the week of March 8th.
Given our commitment to securing a strong future for the Ravens in British Columbia, we indicated we were looking to make a formal announcement prior to the end of March on a new partnership structure that would do precisely that, ensuring we finished the 2003-2004 NLL season on a strong note and took the franchise to next level for next season and beyond.
We will make that announcement on Tuesday, March 23, at General Motors Place and will provide all of our Season Ticket Holders with the pertinent details at that time.
As a courtesy, however, to all of you who have been part of the Ravens Family as Season Ticket Holders, we wanted to give you the following information in advance: 1. MSA Sportworks Entertainment, the rightsholder to the Ravens franchise, has reached a Letter of Intent with a strong third party which will acquire majority interest in the franchise; 2. Sportworks will continue to operate the franchise and will have the option to retain a significant minority interest; 3. The parties are committed to keeping the franchise in British Columbia and ensuring that it, with your support, reaches its full potential, not only as a championship contender in the NLL but as a dynamic community asset for Vancouver and BC.
We are very pleased with the prospects for Ravens Lacrosse under the proposed new partnership structure. We acknowledge, however, that none of it would be possible with the commitment of our players, coaches, staff and volunteers, and that of our Season Ticket Holders and fans. This is your franchise and we'll work hard to build on what we've accomplished to date in our first three seasons.
Thanks again for your ongoing support and commitment to Ravens Lacrosse.
Sincerely yours,
Tom Mayenknecht, Governor
