Rock Cats with 4 Player Moves Today

New Britain Rock Cats News Release


New Britain, CT- The New Britain Rock Cats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League Affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, has announced that All-Star 1B/OF Reynaldo Rodriguez and veteran INF Nate Hanson have been transferred to New Britain from Triple-A Rochester. In addition RHP Jose Berrios (Pronounced BER-EE-OUS) (right shoulder strain) and LHP Mason Melotakis (Pronounced MEL-O-TACK-IS) (left elbow) have been placed on the New Britain disabled list.

Hanson, 26, began his 4 th season with the Rock Cats and was promoted to Rochester on June 26. He batted .235 with 7 doubles two home runs and 11 RBI in 22 games with the Red Wings in the International League. He was batting .273 with 16 doubles, 4 home runs and 36 RBI in 71 games with the Rock Cats this season.

Rodriguez, 28, was an Eastern League All-Star selection this season and batted .308 with 110 hits, including a EL leading 32 doubles, one triple, 14 home runs and 47 RBI. He was promoted to Rochester on July 24 and batted .167 (5-30) with a double, home run and 4 RBI in nine games for the Red Wings.

Both Hanson and Rodriguez will meet the club in Akron, Ohio and will be available to play tomorrow night.

The Rock Cats return home to New Britain Stadium on Tuesday, August 12 for a 7-game homestand against the Bowie BaySox (Orioles) and Harrisburg Senators (Nationals). The box office is open while the team is on the road (860-224-8383) or www.rockcats.com .
