PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of July 28th through August 3rd:

Harrisburg Senators outfielder Quincy Latimore has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of July 28th-August 3rd. The 25-year old hit .391 (9-for-23) with one double, four home runs, 11 RBI, six runs scored, one stolen base, four walks and a .957 slugging percentage in seven games for the Senators last week. Quincy, who is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina, reached base in six games last week and drove or scored at least one run in five of those games. He also homered in three straight games, capping off the streak by hitting a pair of home runs in a 10-9 win over Akron on Thursday. His second home run of the game was a walk-off blast in the bottom of the 10th inning. That performance came a day after Latimore hit a grand slam in the top of the 13th inning of a 6-3 win at Richmond on Wednesday. The 5'11", 175 lb. slugger led all Eastern League hitters home runs (4), RBI (11), slugging percentage (.957) and OPS (1.438) last week and tied for the lead in total bases (22). He was also among the leaders in extra-base hits (5-tied 2nd), on-base percentage (.481-4th), runs scored (6-tied 5th) and walks (4-tied 6th). Quincy, who is hitting .294 with nine homers in 85 games with the Senators this season, was signed by the Washington Nationals on April 16, 2014.

Zach Davies, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Bowie Baysox, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of July 28th-August 3rd. The 6'0", 150 lb. hurler started two games for the Baysox last week and had a record of 2-0 with 13 strikeouts and a 2.03 ERA. Davies, who is a native of Chandler, Arizona, made his first start of the week on Tuesday night at Akron and gave up one run on six hits and two walks while striking out five batters over six innings in Bowie's 5-1 victory. In his second start of the week Davies gave up two runs and scattered five hits over seven and one third innings to pick up the win in Bowie's 8-2 victory at Binghamton on Sunday night. He finished with eight strikeouts and did not walk a batter while improving his record to 8-6 on the season. The 21-year old, who was also the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week earlier this season for the period of June 16th-22nd, tied for the league lead in wins (2) and strikeouts (13) last week and was also among the leaders in innings pitched (13.1-tied 2nd). Zach, who entered the season rated by MLB.com as the 12th best prospect in the Orioles organization, was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 26th round of the 2011 draft out of Mesquite High School in Gilbert, Arizona.
