SATURDAY'S MATCH: The Rochester Raging Rhinos (0-0-0, 0pts.) will see their first action of the 2005 regular season on Saturday as they travel to Vancouver to face the Whitecaps (0-0-1, 1pt.). The 10:00 p.m. (EST) game at Swangard Stadium will be the first time the Rhinos have played in Vancouver since July 7, 2000. The game will be broadcast on Fickle Radio 93.3 FM.

HEAD-TO-HEAD: The Rhinos are 2-3 all-time against Vancouver. Before the 2001 season, the team was known in the A-League as the "86ers". Saturday's match will be the first of two games between the sides this season. The Whitecaps will travel to Rochester on September 4th.

SCOUTING THE CAPS: On Sunday, April 24th, the Whitecaps played to scoreless draw against the Toronto Lynx in front of a sellout home crowd of 5, 722 fans. ‘Caps goalkeeper Mike Franks made one save in goal for the home team. On the season, Vancouver will look to repeat their success from one year ago. The Whitecaps lost to the Seattle Sounders (2-1 on aggregate) last season in the A-League Western Conference Finals. The team finished the regular season with a 14-9-5 record. The ‘Caps leading scorer in 2004, Jason Jordan returns to the squad after collecting 21 points (7+7) in 19 games last season.

RHINOS NOTES: The 2005 edition of the Rhinos features several new faces. The contest will mark the first regular season match that a different head coach other than Pat Ercoli will lead the team in the franchise's 10-year history. Former Syracuse Salty Dogs coach Laurie Calloway will "rule the sidelines" this season. There are also a few returning faces to Rochester. Goalkeeper Scott Vallow returns to the team after two seasons with the Colorado Rapids (MLS). Vallow has appeared in 45 career games with the Rhinos and collected a 27-13-3 mark and 15 shutouts. Defenseman Scott Schweitzer returns after spending the 2004 season with the Syracuse Salty Dogs. Saturday's match will mark the 150th regular season game that the charismatic defender has played with the Rhinos in six seasons. Midfielder Stoian Mladenov also returns to the organization after spending the 2004 season in Austria (Lask Linz). Forward Kirk Wilson will miss the season opener against Vancouver, due to a suspension held over from last season.

RHINOS RELEASE CIGNETTI: On Thursday, the Rhinos released midfielder Gaston Cignetti. Cignetti, the 6-0, 170-pound native of Santa Fe, Argentina was Rochester's first pick (Ninth Overall) in the 2005 First Division Collegian Draft.

NEXT MATCH: The Rhinos will return home to host the Puerto Rico Islanders on Saturday, May 7th at Frontier Field. The game will be broadcast on Fickle 93.3 FM. The first 10,000 fans will receive magnet schedules, courtesy of Salvatore's.
