Rochester moves Danowski and Thorpe to holdout list

(Rochester)... Rochester Knighthawks Owner and General Manager Curt Styres announced today that the team has activated forward Joel McCready and defenseman Cody Johnson. Rochester also signed transition man Kyle Point. In a related move, the K-Hawks moved forward Matt Danowski and defenseman Regy Thorpe to the holdout list.
McCready returns to the 23-man roster from the practice squad. The second-year pro has appeared in two games this season and recorded one goal, one assist and nine loose balls. Johnson joins the active roster for the first time this season after being acquired from the Minnesota Swarm in a four-player, one-draft pick deal on October 14, 2009. For the last five years, Johnson has played in Six Nations with the Arrows of Junior "A" (2008-09) and the Rebels of Junior "B" (2005-08). He also played college ball at Onondaga Community College in 2009 and won a junior college national championship. In 2009, he was the team captain of the Arrows and from 2007 to 2008 he won two Junior "B" Founders Cup titles with the Rebels.
Rochester also signed Kyle Point and moved him to the practice squad. Point is the brother of Knighthawks forward Craig Point. Kyle played this summer for the Six Nations Chiefs of Major Series Lacrosse. In 13 games, he recorded one goal, three assists and two loose balls. Point has spent six seasons in the Six Nations lacrosse system, working his way up from Junior "B" to Junior "A" and finally to the MSL. In his junior career (2004 to 2007), he appeared in 43 games and notched 14 goals, 13 assists and 34 penalty minutes. In 2007 he won a Minto Cup with the Junior "A" Six Nations Arrows. In 2008, he moved up to the Major Series and played in 13 games, recording five assists and two penalty minutes.
The Knighthawks also placed two players on the holdout list. Danowski, who was acquired from Orlando, played in one game this season. Thorpe was activated on February 6th but did not appear in a game. Thorpe is an original member of the Knighthawks, starting in the NLL in 1995.
The Knighthawks will host the Edmonton Rush at 7:35 p.m. on Saturday, February 27th at The Blue Cross Arena. The game will be broadcast live on The Zone 94.1 FM and thezone941.com. Fans can also catch all the action on the NLL.com.
