Rochester Knighthawks News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Knighthawks will begin their season-high four-game homestand with a party on Saturday, February 27th. That night, the K-Hawks will celebrate the birthday of their mascot R. Thunder and 20 of his furry friends during the 7:35 p.m. contest against the Edmonton Rush at The Blue Cross Arena. The game will be broadcast live on The Zone 94.1 FM and thezone941.com. Fans can also catch all the action on the NLL.com.

Head-to-Head: This is only the second meeting between the two teams and first in Rochester. The lone game was in 2008 and was won by the Rush 10-9 in overtime.

Get Your Bears: The game features the Third Annual Teddy Bear Auction for CURE Childhood Cancer Association as fans can bid on the bears made by the players during the game. The bears will be stationed in the upper atrium bar area. Bidding begins at 6:35 p.m. and ends at the conclusion of halftime. Fans with matching bids will head down to the turf after the game for a LIVE auction to determine the winner.

Postgame Events: After the game, fans can head down to turf for a full-team autograph session. Fans can also meet their favorite players at Legends in the Radisson for the official postgame festivities.

Knighthawks Notes: Rochester (5-3) enters the game one-half game behind the Toronto Rock (6-3) for first place in the East Division. The Knighthawks have won two straight games, including a 12-6 victory at Philadelphia over the Wings on February 20th. Steve Toll and Pat O'Toole were honored for their efforts. Toll was tabbed as the NLL's Transition Player of the Week after scoring two goals and collecting a game-high 18 loose balls. Toll is currently third in the NLL with a team-best 82 loose balls. O'Toole took home the Defensive Player of the Week award for the second time this season after making 34 stops. The 16-year netminder boasts a 4-1 record in eight games this season with the Knighthawks. His 10.09 goals-against average and .785 save percentage currently rank him sixth and seventh among league goaltenders, respectively, while his four wins are second best. Craig Point is second on the team with 17 goals, which is two shy of tying his mark of 19 that he registered last season. John Grant Jr. is fourth in the NLL with 19 goals and tied for six with 49 points. Shawn Williams needs one assist to reach 500 in his professional career. Rochester is second in the NLL with 26 power-play goals, which was fueled by an 8-for-10 performance last week at Philadelphia.

O'Toole 66 away from Dallas: O'Toole enters the week just 66 saves away from passing National Lacrosse League Hall of Fame netminder Dallas Eliuk as the all-time saves leader. Eliuk recorded 6,356 saves during his 18 seasons in the league. O'Toole now has 6,290 following a stellar 34-save performance at Philadelphia on February 20th.

A Bunch of Regular Homers: Rochester begins a four-game set Saturday that will also include games against the Orlando Titans, Buffalo Bandits and the defending champion Calgary Roughnecks. That's good news for Knighthawks fans as Rochester is 3-0 on its home turf this season.

Edmonton Notes: The Rush (4-3) moved back over .500 with a 14-13 victory over the Toronto Rock (6-3) at Rexall Place Sunday. Ryan Powell led the way with four goals and four assists, while Gavin Prout (2+4) and Corey Small (0+6) chipped in six points each. With the win, Edmonton moved into a second-place tie with Calgary in the West Division. The Rush also improved to 6-12 all-time against East Division teams. Prout (9+21) is tied for the team-lead in points with Ryan Ward (15+15). The two players are among 14 new players on the Rush's 23-man roster compared to last season. Transition man Brodie Merrill is second in the NLL in loose balls with 85. He is also third on the Rush in points with 24 (6+18).

Next Game: Rochester hosts the Orlando Titans at 7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena on Saturday, March 13th. The game will be broadcast live on The Zone 94.1 FM and thezone941.com. Fans can also catch all the action on the NLL.com.
