Wings Sign Free Agent David Mitchell; Release Veteran Crosbie

The Philadelphia Wings today signed free agent David Mitchell, a 6', 195 lb, forward who last played for the Wings in 2009, according to Wings General Manager and Coach David Huntley. The team also released veteran forward Jason Crosbie to make room for Mitchell on the active roster.

Mitchell played each of his first two NLL seasons with the Wings in 2008 and 2009, recording 24 points (11G, 13A) in 14 games. The left handed forward was a 2007 graduate of Cornell University where he was a two time All-Ivy and two time All-American selection. Mitchell was originally drafted by Philadelphia in the second round (25 overall) in the 2007 NLL Entry Draft.

This was Crosbie's second stint with the Wings, having recorded 65 points (17G, 48A) in 23 games played with Philadelphia between the 2008 and 2010 seasons. He spent the 2009 season with Wings division rival Toronto Rock.

Philadelphia will travel to Buffalo to face the Bandits at the HSBC Arena on Saturday, February 27, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Wings will then play two additional road games before returning home to Wachovia Center on Saturday, March 13 at 7 p.m. to face the Minnesota Swarm.
