
Roche Goes for Back-to-Back Calder Cups

SAINT JOHN, NB - Saint John Flames alumni Dave Roche is the only player remaining in the 2002 Calder Cup Playoffs with the opportunity to repeat as Calder Cup Champion. Roche and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers meet the Hamilton Bulldogs in game one of the best of seven Eastern Conference Final on Friday, May 10. The winner of the series will meet the victor of the Western Conference Final between the Chicago Wolves and the Houston Aeros to determine the 2002 Calder Cup Champions.
Roche, a member of the 2001 Calder Cup Champion Saint John Flames, appeared in 77 AHL games during the 2001-02 regular season with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. In 48 games with the Sound Tigers he recorded 39 points (25 goals, 14 assists) and 64 penalty minutes and in 29 games with the Mighty Ducks he collected 13 points (6 goals, 7 assists) and 41 penalty minutes. Roche also appeared in one game with the National Hockey league's New York Islanders. Roche appeared in all 19 games during the Flames 2001 Calder Cup run recording 9 points (3 goals, 6 assists) and 43 penalty minutes.
The Saint John Flames are the primary development organization of the NHL's Calgary Flames and have been a member of the AHL since 1993.
