SLANEYS HAVE BABY BOY

The Phantoms would like to congratulate John and Brenda Slaney on the birth of their first child, Tyler Joseph, who was born on Tuesday, May 7 at 3:00 p.m. Tyler weighed in at five pounds, 10 ounces and is also listed as a defenseman.

ST. JACQUES & LEFEBVRE UNDERGO SUCCESSFUL SURGERIES

A pair of Phantoms underwent successful surgeries recently. Defenseman Bruno St. Jacques had the scaphoid bone in his left wrist repaired, while center Guillaume Lefebvre had a bilateral hernia fixed. St. Jacques and Lefebvre are each expected to be at full strength for training camp. Defenseman Brad Tiley is also on schedule for a full recovery from a season-ending broken left tibia suffered on Feb. 18.

STEVENS THROWING OUT FIRST PITCH AT RIVERSHARKS GAME

Head coach John Stevens will be throwing out the first pitch at the Camden (NJ) Riversharks baseball game on Friday, May 24. The Atlantic League showdown vs. the Pennsylvania Road Warriors begins at 6:35 p.m. that night.

PHANTOMS WORKING WITH DARE PROGRAM

Defenseman Brad Tiley helped to conduct a DARE graduation ceremony at Thomas E. Bowe School in Glassboro, N.J. on May 1. The DARE program, which stands for "Drug Abuse Resistance Education," was attended by approximately 200 fifth grade students. In addition, every DARE graduation this spring and next December in the Pennsbury, Pa. district will include a video with right wing Mark Greig delivering an important anti-drug speech.

AHL ADDS TWO NEW FRANCHISES

The American Hockey League announced on May 6 that San Antonio, Texas and Binghamton, N.Y. have been awarded franchises for the 2002-03 season. San Antonio will be the primary affiliate of the Florida Panthers, while Binghamton will be the Ottawa Senators' top farm team. This is the AHL's second venture into Binghamton, as the Dusters, Whalers and Rangers played there from 1977-97. The two new additions bring the AHL roster of teams up to 29.

2002-03 SEASON TICKET DEPOSITS NOW BEING ACCEPTED
