Green Bay Blizzard Player Diary
WR/LB Robert Garth, who has spent the last two seasons with the Blizzard, was recently signed by the expansion Nashville Kats of the Arena Football League. "Superman," as he is known to Blizzard fans, is one of the best players in the team's short history, and not just because he holds nearly all Blizzard receiving records. His tireless efforts to make appearances in the community and his professional demeanor both on and off the field have made him popular figure in this sports-crazed town. In an exclusive feature, Robert will be writing a weekly column for www.greenbayblizzard.com, detailing his transition from the af2 to the AFL.
Hello, Blizzard fans!
I just recently went down to Nashville and it was a very unique experience. The organization is one of the best I've seen in many years. The coaches and players seem very confident in this season. The workouts the players are doing right now are very hard, but I was able to keep up. My first test as an AFL player will come this December when we hold our first mini-camp.
I'm really looking forward to playing football again, and also see how I well match up to the level of competition. Right now there are three players at my position: myself, Darryl Hammond, and Cosmo DeMatteo. The other two are very good players, but I think I will do well.
The facilities are very top of the line and everything just seems right. I'm looking forward to this season of playing in the AFL as well as playing on national television - we have 4 games on NBC this year!
I'll be back in Green Bay next week to see some of my friends and teammates. In fact, I will be doing another public appearance with my friend and Blizzard teammate Greg Jones while I'm back. We will be reading stories to kids at "Studio G" inside Geoffrey's Toys âR' Us in Appleton on Thursday, November 18 from 10:30-11:30am, so be sure to stop by and see us! Bruiser will be there, too, so it's sure to be a great time.
Don't forget, you can e-mail me now using the new Green Bay Blizzard "Player Mail." The address is playermail@greenbayblizzard.com.
Talk to you next week!
