Bauer appointed Xplorers Director of Player Personnel

11/9 - Southaven, MS-The Memphis Xplorers of the af2 have appointed Chris Bauer as Director of Player Personnel. He will assist Head Coach Danton Barto, in scouting, recruiting, and player procurement for the 2005 season. Currently, Bauer is President of SCOUT (sophisticated computer optimization utilizing talent), football's version of Moneyball. This past season Bauer served as the Director of College Scouting for the Indiana Firebirds of the Arena Football League, who were led by AFL Rookie of the Year Adrian McPherson. Bauer has also served as the Director of Player Personnel and Special Teams Coach for both the Mohegan Wolves and New Haven Ninjas of af2. Bauer began his football career as an assistant, for two years, to AFL Director of Football Operations, Jerry Trice. He later moved to Connecticut where he co-developed ASAP (Arena Scouting and Personnel) which recommended future arena football stars to Head Coaches and General Managers.
Xplorers Head Coach Danton Barto believes that Bauer is a key addition to his staff. "Chris (Bauer) is a critical member of our team. His ability to find talent gives us a greater chance of becoming a championship team. I am thrilled to get the chance to work with him."
General Manager Nate Yoder also shared the views of Barto. "Coach (Barto) assured me that Bauer would help us get to that championship level. This is great news for this organization."
Bauer and Barto have already started intense scouting and recruiting efforts for the 2005 Xplorers. Bauer expressed his excitement about what looks to be a great off-season for Memphis. " I think over the next couple of months fans of the Xplorers will be excited about many of the pieces we have added to the puzzle. Coach Barto's ability to teach young talent, knowledge of the game, and reputation in the football community make this a pretty easy sell to the nation's best young players."
