Rob Hellyer Named Pinty's Wingman of the Week
February 25, 2015 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Toronto Rock News Release
The National Lacrosse League has announced Toronto Rock forward Rob Hellyer as the Pinty's Wingman of the Week award winner for Week 8 of the 2015 NLL season. Hellyer, who ranks fourth in the league with 50 points (18+32) and tied for second in the NLL with 32 assists in eight games played this year, posted a game-high eight points (2+6) in Toronto's 13-12 overtime win over New England this past Friday.
The 22-year-old, already in his fifth NLL season, has emerged as one of the league's top scorers following his breakout season last year where he recorded 79 points (29+50) and was named NLL Player of the Month for April. The Lion's Head, Ontario native was selected in the third round (30th overall) by the Rock in the 2010 NLL Draft and won a Champion's Cup with the team as a rookie in 2011. Hellyer has helped spearhead a Toronto attack en route to a league-best 7-1 record through the first eight weeks of the season.
Pinty's is an official partner for the NLL on TSN during the 2015 season. Each week, an NLL player will receive the "Pinty's Wingman of the Week" award based on their performance with respect to passing prowess and playmaking abilities. The weekly award winners will be entered into the pool of finalists for the "Pinty's Wingman of the Year" award at the end of the season.
