Rob Hellyer Named Air Canada Wingman of the Week

The National Lacrosse League has announced Toronto Rock forward Rob Hellyer as the "Air Canada Wingman of the Week" award winner for Week 9 of the 2016 NLL season.

Hellyer, who ranks third in NLL scoring with 53 points (20+33) and fourth in assists (33), posted a league-high 11 points (3+8) with eight assists in the Rock's 17-6 home win over the Rochester Knighthawks this past Saturday. Hellyer has registered at least three points in all eight games played this season including three 10-plus point performances in his last four contests. He also leads the league with 15 power play assists and is tied for seventh among NLL forwards with 43 loose balls.

The 23-year-old, already in his sixth NLL season, continues to produce at a high level after recording 90 points (31+59) in just 14 games last season following his 79-point (29+50) breakout campaign in 2014. The Lion's Head, Ont. native was selected in the third round (30th overall) by the Rock in the 2010 NLL Draft and won a Champion's Cup with Toronto as a rookie in 2011.

Air Canada is the Official Airline Partner for the NLL. Each week, an NLL player will receive the "Air Canada Wingman of the Week" award based on their performance on the turf with respect to passing prowess and playmaking abilities. The weekly award winners will be entered into the pool of finalists for the "Air Canada Wingman of the Year" award at the end of the season.
