
Roadrunners Win Streak Stopped at Five

EDINBURG, Texas---The Edinburg Roadrunners' winning streak was snapped at five games with a 7-3 loss at the hands of the Amarillo Dillas Thursday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Stephen Douglas reached on a throwing error that allowed Alberto Cruz to score from third in the top of the fourth inning. TJ Warren and Cory Wine followed with RBI hits to make it 3-0 and Adam De La Garza wrapped up the scoring in the inning with an RBI double extending Amarillo's lead 4-0.
The Dillas (4-4) scored single runs in the top of the third, fourth and fifth innings against Roadrunners starter Eric Montoya (1-1) to make the score 7-0.
The Roadrunners (6-2) got on the board in the bottom of the seventh inning with an RBI single by Vincent Blue that drove in Wilson Batista from second. After a walk to Ambiorix Concepcion, Carlos Hereaud hit a single to load the bases for Robert Matlock who then hit a two-run single making it a 7-3 ball game.
Ramon Geronimo pitched a scoreless ninth to close out the game giving the Dillas the 7-3 victory.
Edinburg and Amarillo will play the third game of the series Friday for MVEC night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Mike Reeves (0-0) is expected to face Ryan Mitchell (0-0) with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
