June 4, 2009 - United League Baseball (ULB)
Edinburg Roadrunners News Release

EDINBURG, Texas---- The Edinburg Roadrunners of United League Baseball (ULB) began their first day of spring training camp today at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. With a total of 23 players currently at the camp (four of the expected players have not arrived in Edinburg yet), field manager Vince Moore says things look hopeful for the upcoming season. "I'm really excited about this team. Usually guys come into the training camp out of shape, and a lot of these guys reported and are ready to go."

Infielder Eric Gonzalez, who has been with the Edinburg organization for eight straight seasons, said that there are some things that he has seen on the first day that makes this team different than in the past. "They are smarter," stated Gonzalez, "they know how to play the game better. I think we have a great group of guys this year that are willing to learn because in the game of baseball you never stop learning."

The camp runs till June 10th with the first game being Thursday June 11th and Moore has already seen a lot of talent. "There are a lot of guys that are showing me what they can bring to the table already," said Moore, "I invited four guys out here and they are definitely impressing me right now. I have never seen them play before and these guys are what I expected."

The Roadrunners will play host to The Buffalos, a club team from Mexico during the training camp on Tuesday June 9th at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. and is open to the public.
