
Roadrunners Take Series from Colts with Victory

SAN ANGELO, Texas---The Edinburg Roadrunners took three of four games from the San Angelo Colts after a 10-5 victory Wednesday night at Foster Field.
Edinburg extended their lead over the Amarillo Dillas, who did not play Wednesday night, to one full game with the win.
The Roadrunners (47-31) got on the board against Ezequiel Astacio (6-7) in the top of the first when Wilmer Pino hit a leadoff home run making it 1-0. Pino went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI on the night.
Carlos Hereaud started the top of the second with a single and then stole second base. One out later, Alexis Hernandez hit an RBI single scoring Hereaud from second. A wild pitch moved Hernandez over to second and then he came into score after Pino hit an RBI single. Felix Molina followed with an RBI double that allowed Pino to score extending the Roadrunners lead 4-0.
The Colts (38-42) got on the board in the bottom of the fourth against Aaron Guerra when Butch Ballez hit an RBI single allowing Landon Camp to score from second making it 4-1 Edinburg.
In the bottom of the fourth, Ballez hit a two out two-run single allowing Joshua Collazo and Camp to score cutting the Roadrunners lead 4-3.
Edinburg answered back in the top of the fifth. Nelson Teilon started the inning with a single and then stole second base. Daryl Jones followed with an RBI single scoring Teilon from second. Wilson Batista then hit a single that allowed Jones to move to third putting runners on the corners. Hereaud then drove in Jones with a sacrifice fly to left field. With a runner at second and two outs, Robert Matlock hit an RBI double scoring Batista from second and extending the Roadrunners lead 7-3.
Mark Ramos led off the bottom of the fifth for the Colts with a double and then came into score when Jason Landreth hit an RBI single making it 7-4 Edinburg.
In the top of the seventh, Jones led off with a single and then moved to second on a stolen base. One out later, Hereaud hit an RBI single scoring Jones from second base extending the Roadrunners lead 8-4.
San Angelo scored another run in the bottom of the seventh when Landreth led off the inning with a solo home run cutting Edinburg's lead 8-5.
Solo home runs by Pino, his second of the ball game, and Teilon in the top of the eighth against reliever Bryan Heaston extended the Roadrunners lead 10-5.
Evan Cunningham pitched a scoreless ninth giving Edinburg the 10-5 victory.
Guerra (6-1) picked up his sixth win of the season after pitching five innings and allowing four runs on nine hits while striking out three.
The Roadrunners open a four-game series at Edinburg Baseball Stadium against the Laredo Broncos starting Thursday night. Tim Haines (3-9) is expected to face Robert Roth (1-4) with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
