
Roadrunners Swept by Thunder

EDINBURG, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners were swept by the McAllen Thunder after a 5-4 loss, in 10 innings, Friday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
With the score tied at four in the top of the 10th inning, Jacob Douglas led off with a single and then moved to on a sacrifice bunt from Vince Coleman Jr. Two outs later, a throwing error allows Douglas to score from second giving the Thunder the 5-4 lead and the eventual win.
Ryde Rodriguez gave the Roadrunners (20-27) the early lead after he hit a solo-home run in the bottom of the second inning making it 1-0.
The Thunder (18-29) were held hitless until the top of the fifth when they rallied for four runs on three hits. Vince Coleman Jr. and Jorge Bishop each had an RBI in the inning and McAllen added two more runs on a fielding error taking the 4-1 lead.
The Roadrunners got a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth. Fernando De Los Santos and Tim Maitland had RBI singles in the inning cutting the Thunder lead 4-3.
In the bottom of the seventh, Rodriguez tied the game at four with an RBI single that allowed Dan Coury to score from third.
The Thunder recorded only one hit after the fifth inning but got the go ahead run in the 10th giving Leo Madrid (2-2) his second loss of the season.
Gabriel Garcia then retired the side in the bottom of the 10th for his first win of the season giving McAllen the 5-4 victory.
The Roadrunners open a four-game series against the Fort Worth Cats on Saturday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Saturday's series opener against the Fort Worth Cats will be Taco Ole Family Weekend and Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Rally Towel Night where the first 1,000 receive a rally towel.
