Roadrunners Sweep Doubleheader from Colts

EDINBURG, Texas--- The Edinburg Roadrunners swept the double-header from the San Angelo Colts with scores of 3-2 and 4-2 Tuesday night at the Edinburg Baseball Stadium. The sweep extends the Roadrunners win streak to four-games.

In game one, Mark Ramos and Jason Landreth each had RBI singles in the top of the third against Edinburg starter Mark DiBernardo giving the Colts a 2-0 lead.

The Roadrunners got on the board in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single from Alexis Hernandez making it 2-1 San Angelo.

In the bottom of the seventh, Carlos Hereaud hit a walk-off two-run home run off of Colt's starter Brian Henschel (1-1) giving the Roadrunners the 3-2 victory.

DiBernardo (2-0) picked up his second win after pitching a complete game and allowing two runs on nine hits and striking out three.

In game two, Wilmer Pino started the bottom of the first with a walk, stole second and came into score on Felix Molina's RBI double. After stealing third base, Molina came into score on Ambiorix Concepcion's RBI ground out that gave the Roadrunners the 2-0 lead.

In the top of the fourth, a throwing error allowed Ramos to score and Ronnie Gaines to move to third. Landreth then hit a sacrifice fly to center field that allowed Gaines to score from third tying things up at two.

Concepcion gave the Roadrunners the lead with an RBI fielder's choice in the bottom of the fifth scoring Adam Matos from third. A fielding error by Colt's first baseman Joshua Collazo allowed Molina to score extending Edinburg's lead 4-2.

Julio Castro pitched a perfect seventh inning for his third save of the season giving the Roadrunners the 4-2 victory.

Eric Montoya (2-1) picked up the win after pitching six innings, allowing two runs one of which was earned and striking out four.

The Roadrunners (10-3) and Colts (5-8) will play the last game of the series Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Mike Reeves (0-1) is expected to face Chace Vacek (1-1) with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
