
Roadrunners Streak Stopped At Six

EDINBURG, Texas---The Edinburg Roadrunners win streak was stopped at six games after a 5-1 loss to the Laredo Broncos Friday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Tim Haines (3-1) got the loss after pitching seven innings and allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out eight batters.
The Roadrunners (12-4) got on the board against Broncos starter Santo Hernandez (2-1) in the bottom of the second with a sacrifice fly by Carlos Hereaud making it 1-0.
Doug Thennis started the top of the fifth with a single and then came into score on an RBI single by Jason Diaz. Kenneth Gilbert followed with a two-run single that allowed Gabriel Memmert and David Fowler to score giving Laredo the 3-1 lead.
The Broncos (5-11) added two more runs in the top of the eighth on an RBI double by Nick Mahin and an RBI single by Thennis extending their lead 5-1.
Vinnie Dechristofaro picked up his second save on the season after pitching a scoreless ninth giving Laredo the 5-1 victory.
Hernandez picked up his second win of the season after pitching seven innings and allowing one run on two hits.
The Broncos and Roadrunners will play the third game of this four-game series Saturday night at the Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Robbie Nelson (0-0) is expected to face Juan Peralta (0-0) with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
