Roadrunners Streak Snapped by Barnard, Colts

EDINBURG, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners had their three-game win streak snapped after an 11-1 loss at the hands of the San Angelo Colts Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

The Colts (46-29) got the scoring started in the top of the third against Toro Trevino (4-6). Mark Ramos and Beau Riportella started the inning with singles. Daryl Jones then hit an RBI double scoring Ramos from second. Landon Camp followed with a sacrifice fly allowing Riportella to score. Clay Calfee then hit a two-out RBI single scoring Jones making it 3-0.

The Roadrunners (30-46) answered back in the bottom of the third. Gabe Memmert reached on a fielding error and then moved to second on a single by Antonio De Jesus. Stantrel Smith then followed with an RBI single scoring Memmert from second and cutting the San Angelo lead 3-1.

The Colts added two runs in the top of the fifth and sixth innings, single runs in the top of the seven and eighth and two more in the top of the ninth extending their lead 11-1.

Chandler Barnard (10-2) picked up his 10th victory after pitching a complete game and allowing one run, which was unearned, on five hits and striking out five.

The Roadrunners and Colts will play the final game of their four-game series Monday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Ryan Falcon (1-0) is expected to face Brian Henschel (7-6) with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
