
Roadrunners Start Road Trip with Win

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners started their nine game road trip with a victory over the Fort Worth Cats by a score of 3-2 at La Grave Field on Tuesday night.
Fort Worth got the scoring started in the second inning when Daniel Meeley started the inning with a walk and advanced to third on a double by Mark Sobolewski with no outs. Greg Bachman grounded out but it produced the first run to make it 1-0 in favor of the Cats.
The teams traded zeros until the eighth inning when Edinburg scored three runs. It was started by Tim Battle who hit his sixth homerun of the season to tie the game at one. Then, consecutive doubles by Michael Haynes and Jordan Etier made it 2-1 in favor of Edinburg. Tim Maitland drove in Etier with a single that made it 3-1 which would be a key run.
The Cats responded with a homerun by David Bergin which was his 12th that trimmed Edinburg's lead to 3-2.
Alex Schmarzo pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his fourth save of the season preserving the victory for the Roadrunners.
Cullen Babin (3-0) earned the win after pitching three innings and allowing earned one runs on two hits.
Roman Gomez (1-5) took the loss after he pitched seven and a third innings and allowed three earned runs, on six hits while striking out seven.
The Roadrunners continue their four game series against the Cats at La Grave Field with the first pitch set for 7:05 pm.
