Edinburg Roadrunners News Release

EDINBURG, Texas---- The Edinburg Roadrunners of United League Baseball announce today the additions of Austin Bridges, Angel Reyes and Bryan Herrera to their 2009 squad. "Bridges and Herrera will be a great addition to the pitching staff that I have coming in," said Roadrunners manager Vince Moore. "Angel has played with some affiliate teams which will add to the depth we have in the infield."

Reyes was most recently a participant in the Houston Astros 2009 spring training camp squad and was later released. A native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, he was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2002 and played with the organization until 2007.

Bridges is out of Fort Worth, Texas and attended the University of Texas-Arlington where he pitched for the Mavericks. In his last season in 2006 at UT-Arlington he put in 65 innings of work posting 34 strikeouts with a 4.96 ERA. Bridges has since had surgery during the 2007 season and most recently participated in the 2008 spring training camp for the Fort Worth Cats of the American Association.

As a member of the Texas Longhorns 2005 NCAA Baseball Championship team, Herrera, a native of Austin, had a short stint with the Harlingen White Wings of ULB during the 2008 season. In seven games with the White Wings, he pitched 30 innings and collected 20 strikeouts.

The Edinburg Roadrunners will be holding a tryout camp Saturday May 30th at Edinburg Baseball Stadium from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants must be out of high school, at least 18 years old and cannot exceed the age of 35. There is a registration fee of $35 per participant. For more information contact Doug Leary at (956) 380-4446.
