
Colts Sign Two More Players

San Angelo Colts News Release
SAN ANGELO, Texas---The San Angelo Colts have added two new pieces to the 2009 team. Catcher, Matt Acevedo, joins the squad after spending the last four years playing with Columbia Union College. Shortstop, Butch Ballez, was also signed after competing at Texas Wesleyan University the previous two seasons.
Acevedo sprouted in his last two seasons at Columbia Union. The catcher struck 27 homers, drove in 106, and batted at least .403 during those two years. He also earned Division II All-America honors in consecutive seasons.
Ballez was outstanding in his junior and senior campaigns. He batted at least .350 in each of those seasons. The shortstop knocked 18 out of the park, with 112 RBI and 106 runs scored in 115 collegiate games. He also showed promising speed by stealing 23 bases.
