
Roadrunners Sign McGuire and Martin

EDINBURG, Texas---- United League Baseball's Edinburg Roadrunners announce today the signing of pitcher Brian Martin and catcher Cameron McGuire for the 2009 season. McGuire returns to Edinburg after spending part of the 2008 season in the Northern League and the American Association before being released.
McGuire is a native of Dallas and was a member of the baseball team at Sam Houston State University. During the 2007 season he held a .260 batting average while with the Laredo Broncos (ULB) and in his 10 games as an Edinburg Coyote held a .275 average with 8 RBI's.
Martin is out of Texas City and played for San Jacinto Junior College before ending his collegiate career at the University of Houston as a Cougar in 2004. He has since been in and out of ULB and the American Association most recently pitching for the Fort Worth Cats. In 46 games Martin collected 44 strikeouts and ended the season with a 3.35 ERA.
The Edinburg Roadrunners open their season Thursday June 11th at Edinburg Baseball Stadium where they will face the Laredo Broncos in a four game series. Game time for Thursday is set for 7:00 p.m. Season tickets are on sale, for more information contact the Edinburg front office at (956) 380-4446.
