July 2, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Edmonton Road Runners News Release

Edinburg's Pat O'Sullivan was 5-for-5 with a homer and four RBI as the Roadrunners downed the Cats 11-3 Friday night at LaGrave Field.

The loss was the second in a row for the Cats whose second-record fell to 2-3.

With Edinburg leading 3-1 heading into the fourth, the Roadrunners sprung for six runs on six hits in the inning to build their advantage to 9-1. After a leadoff walk, Aaron Sisk tripled to center field to get the scoring started. Three batters later, Ryan Webb brought home two with a double and then scored on an O'Sullivan double.

Shad Williams (3-5) took the loss as he was chased in the fourth inning after permitting eight earned runs on 10 hits while walking three.

Edinburg would tack on a run in the seventh on the O'Sullivan homer and another in the ninth on an O'Sullivan RBI single.

Protecting a lead from the outset, Edinburg starter Eric Montoya (6-1) cruised to the victory. The righty allowed a run on four hits while striking out five and throwing just 80 pitches in a seven-inning performance.

The Cats got on the board in the second on an RBI double by Dennis Pelfrey. They would not score again until they posted two runs in the eighth on an RBI single by Pat Hannon and a Byron Smith sacrifice fly.

Hannon, in his first home game since returning to the Cats, had a 2-for-4 night. He has now hit safely in all four games he's played this year.

The Cats and Roadrunners continue their four-game series with Game 2 Saturday night at LaGrave Field. Angel Aragon (6-3) will pitch for Fort Worth and he will be opposed by Pedro Flores (6-2) for Edinburg.
