
Roadrunners Fall to Thunder in Finale

EDINBURG, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners let a two-run lead slip away as they fell to the McAllen Thunder Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Tied at four, pinch-hitter Mike Goss delivered the game-winning hit in the bottom of the eighth as he single to left field scoring Nick Mahin from second.
The Roadrunners (26-18) grabbed the lead with a sacrifice fly from Felix Molina in the top of the third that made it 1-0.
In the top of the fourth, a sacrifice fly from Tim Battle allowed Osiel Flores to score making it 2-0 Edinburg.
The Thunder (16-28) got on the board in the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded, a wild pitch allowed Nathan Tomaszewski to score. Roberto Rodriguez then followed with an RBI ground out that scored Henry Abad to score tying the game at two.
McAllen grabbed the lead as they got RBI singles from Nick Mahin and Tomaszewski that gave them the 4-2 edge.
Edinburg responded with runs of their own in the top of the seventh. With runners at second and third, Molina hit an RBI ground out to second that allowed Wilmer Pino to score. Cristobal Santana then followed with an RBI single to center that allowed Carlos Hereaud to score tying the game at four.
In the bottom of the eighth, Nick Mahin led off with a single and then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Pinch-hitter Mike Goss then drove in Mahin with an RBI single that gave McAllen the 5-4 lead.
Chad Robinson came on in the ninth and pitched a perfect inning for his fifth save of the season giving the Thunder the 5-4 victory.
Kurt Houck (1-1) picked up the win after pitching an inning and a third with three strikeouts.
Rusty Jones (3-1) took the loss after allowing one run in two innings while striking out three.
Both teams have Monday off before the Roadrunners open a four-game series against the San Angelo Colts Tuesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
